The best restaurant in Spring Lake. We dined on a Sunday night and started with the Calamari. WOW! Absolutely crisp and fresh. My wife had the Bolognese pasta, (terrific), and I had one of the specials which turned out to be the best eggplant dish I'd ever had. The salads were fresh, and for desert I had the cappuccino gelato . Our waitress Jean was extremely helpful, and George, the owner, a delight to meet. It's a must visit.

Arugula serves up some of the best flavor profiles in Spring Lake.

Don’t take my word for it, make a reservation. You won’t be disappointed.

Excellent, innovative food at Arugula with a mediterranean/italian focus. The waitress and chef/owner were very attentive. Smaller intimate restaurant with outdoor dining in the warmer months.

Excellent food at a reasonable price. The Shrimp Shrimp was really tasty and the fruit salad appetizer was delightful, I know those ingredients but would never have combined them that way, wow. Our waitress could not do enough for us. Will definitely go back.

Food was excellent, good size portions, and the waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Ignore that one review that said stay away.. not true!

I’m not sure I understand the negative reviews. The guy is obviously trying to run this place with a minimum of wait staff and I would guess that the waiter is actually the owner. So sometimes he gets a little overwhelmed. But it’s mostly charming. As someone who’s spent a considerable time in Italy, I understand that the culture calls for dinners lasting for several hours. If you’re looking for a meal that gets you in and out in less than an hour, this is not the place for you. But if you’re looking for an experience with a slightly quirky waiter and amazing food, run, don’t walk, to Arugula!

The food is nothing short of spectacular. I wanted the swordfish , but unfortunately they were out of that, so the chef made something up based on Mahi-mahi and my description of what I like. It was a bullseye. A total jackpot. None of the overdone tomato based sauces or garlic galore. No, a well balanced creation that let the fish shine. The rest of my party was equally satisfied with their meals. Next time we’ll stay for dessert as well. Because there will be a next time!
